The developers of
Tarpon Point Marina are still adding new features at the mixed-used community in southwest Cape Coral.
Much of the action these days is centered around the new section known as MarinaVillage.
The
Nov. 1 date for opening of the Resort at MarinaVillage Residence Club
remains on target, with construction of the development in varied
stages of completion.
“Construction is going well. We are right on schedule,” said Jim Crumbie, president of Grosse Pointe Development Co.
Construction should be complete by September with furniture move-in expected to be ready for Nov. 1, Crumbie said.
The
residence club is a 19-story resort-style condo hotel. It is part of a
$150 million mixed use development within Tarpon Point, which sits
along the Caloosahatchee River. The development also will include two
waterfront restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating, a day spa and
fitness center and resort-style pool centered around the deep-water
marina with 175 slips for boats up to 75 feet long.
The
parking garage and promenade roof are near completion — along with the
outer shells and interior walls of the residence club complex,
according to Gary Locke and Randy Kares, executives with SunStream
Hotels, the resort’s management firm.
Plumbing and appliance installation have been completed on some of the of the residence club floors, they said.
The shell of a restaurant, Marker 92, is in place, but the rest of the eatery still needs to be built out, they said.
The
availability of skilled workers, including tradesmen, has helped speed
up work of the project, putting them somewhat ahead of schedule,
Crumbie said.
Half the retail space of MarinaVillage’s two-story
shopping promenade has been leased, he said. It will include boutiques,
high-tech office suites, gourmet market and a full service spa.
Joe and Sue Francis, who purchased a 3,050-square-foot, three-bedroom,
3-bath condo at Tarpon Landing, one of Tarpon Point’s villages near the
MarinaVillage resort, are looking forward to the new shops, restaurant
and spa.
Joe Francis, vice president of the Tarpon Landing
Condominium Association and owner of a commercial real estate business
in Minnesota, said he is interested in renting office space at
MarinaVillage.
Sue Francis, who has owned salons for over 20
years in Minnesota, said she is looking forward to using the new day
spa and hopes to work there as a hairdresser.
“I have a variety
of skills and would like a place to put them to use, especially with
all of my friends here who ask me to do their hair,” she said.
The
two live 250 yards from MarinaVillage. They said they enjoy the
convenience of living so close to the boardwalk shops and resort, as
well as the great waterfront views.
“We go out quite often — two
to three times a week — and love socializing and meeting new people and
are excited about going to MarinaVillage’s new restaurants,” she said.
Lauren
Hagen, director of sales for Grosse Pointe Development, said the Resort
at MarinaVillage Residence Club has fractional ownership options
starting at $74,000.
It offers the benefits of a vacation home
without the hassles that sometimes come with second homes, she said.
Fractional ownerships are available in 1/12th options, meaning buyers
can partner with other buyers. These residences are offered in two or
three bedrooms with up to 2,195 square feet of living area. The resort
offers, among other amenities, concierge services, room service,
housekeeping, and the Marker 92 restaurant.
When away, owners can enter their residence in a rental program, managed by SunStream Hotels & Resorts, she said.
